For close to four decades, the R. N. Shetty Trust has done in education what its founder did in engineering — build things meant to outlast their builders. What began as a single polytechnic in Murudeshwar in 1987 is today a group of thirteen institutions across Bengaluru and coastal Karnataka: schools, pre-university and degree colleges, nursing, architecture, engineering and management, teaching more than 10,000 students every year. Dr. R. N. Shetty, the founder of the R. N. Shetty Trust, is a well-knownentrepreneur, humanitarian, philanthropist, and educationalist in India. Our esteemed founder, Dr. R. N. Shetty, was born on August 15, 1928. His concern for humanity made him reach the pinnacle of excellence in diversified fields of activities such as engineering, industry, education, medical, hospitality, power generation, automobile dealerships, religion and spirituality. He was instrumental in constructing the second-tallest Lord Shiva statue in the world and a gopuram in Murudeshwara. As a humanitarian, he offered social, medical, and educational aid to the poor and needy by undertaking numerous rural education programs in Karnataka. Furthermore, he instigated primary and high schools, pre-university colleges, first grade colleges, Polytechnic, Nursing Colleges, and engineering colleges etc.
